A: New York is even colder than Seoul!

      (뉴욕은 서울보다 훨씬 더 춥네!)

B: It’s because of the wind.

      (바람 때문이야.)

B: There are many tall buildings in the city.

      (시내에 높은 건물이 많아.)

A: Gosh, I can’t feel my hands.

      (어휴, 손이 꽁꽁 얼었어.)

 

 

 

A: New York is even colder than Seoul!

* colder - 더 추운

※ cold  ≫  colder  ≫  coldest

 

* hotter - 더 더운

※ hot  ≫  hotter  ≫  hottest

 

▶ than (목적어) = (목적어)보다

ex) Seoul is hotter than San Diego.  -  서울은 샌디에이고보다 더 더워

      Jessie is older than me.  -  제시는 나보다 나이가 많아

      Are you younger than Mayu?  -  너 마유보다 더 어려?

     

* Jessie is my age.  -  제시는 내 또래야

      

* even - 심지어, 훨씬

 

B: It’s because of the wind.

* wind - 바람

* breeze - 산들바람

 

▶ because of (목적어) = (목적어) 때문에

ex) It's because of you.  -  그건 너 때문이야.

      Is it because of the weather?  -  그건 날씨 때문인가요?

      

※ Thanks to you.  -  너 덕분에

 

※ It's because of the wind. That's why. -  바람때문이야, 그래서 그런거야

    That's why.  -  그래서 그래

 

B: There are many tall buildings in the city.

* tall - 키가 큰, 높은

 

▶ There are (복수명사). = (복수명사)들이 있어.

ex) There are many kids.  -  많은 아이들이 있어

      There are balloons in the trunk.  -  그 트렁크 안에 풍선들이 있어

      Are there many patients?  -  많은 환자들이 있나요?

      Were there many patients?  -  많은 환자들이 있었나요?

      

* patient - 환자

 

* There will be - 있을것이다

* There might be - 있을지도 몰라

 

A: Gosh, I can’t feel my hands.

* hand - 손

 

▶ can't (동사원형) = (동사원형)할 수가 없다

ex) I can't feel my fingers.  -  손가락이 꽁꽁 얼었어

      She can't run fast.  -  그녀는 빨리 달릴 수 없어

 

※ I can see my breath.  -  입김이 나와.
