A: Why are these carrots so expensive?

      (이 당근들은 왜 이렇게 비싸죠?)

B: They are organic carrots. That’s why.

      (유기농 당근이에요. 그래서 그래요.)

A: Where’s the regular veggie section?

      (일반 채소 섹션은 어디예요?)

B: It’s at the back over there.

      (저기 뒤에 있습니다.)

 

 

 

 

A: Why are these carrots so expensive?

* carrot - 당근

* cucumber - 오이

 

※ expensive  ≫  inexpensive  ≫  cheap

* expensive - 비싼

* inexpensive - 비싸지 않은

* cheap - 값이 싼

 

▶ Why (질문 어순)? = 왜 (질문 어순)이죠?

ex) Why is this so cheap?  -  이건 왜 이렇게 저렴하죠?

      Why are you angry?  -  너 왜 화났어?

 

B: They are organic carrots. That’s why.

* organic - 유기농인

 

▶ That's why. = 그래서 그래.

ex) I am hungry. That's why.  -  나 배고파. 그래서 그래.

      She is pretty. That's why.  -  그녀가 예쁘잖아. 그래서 그래.

 

A: Where’s the regular veggie section?

* regular - 일반의, 보통의

* normal - 정상적인

 

*veggie = vegetable - 채소

* fruit - 과일

 

▶ Where is (명사)? = (명사)는 어디예요?

ex) Where is the gas station?  -  주유소가 어디예요?

      Where is the men's room?  -  남자 화장실이 어디죠?

      Where is the lady's room?  -  여자 화장실이 어디죠?

 

B: It’s at the back over there.

* over there - 저기에

   - 'over'는 거리감을 느끼는 강조의 의미

* over here - 여기에

 

▶ at the back = 뒤에, 뒤에 있는

ex) The veggie section is at the back.  -  채소 섹션은 뒤에 있어요

      The fitting room is at the back.  -  피팅룸이 뒤에 있어요
