B: Yes, Mom. I’m stuck on this math problem.

      (네, 엄마. 이 수학 문제에 멈춰 있어요.)

A: Um… Did you just say “math?”

      (음… 방금 ‘수학’이라고 했니?)

B: Mom? Where are you going? Come back!

      (엄마? 어디 가세요? 돌아와요!)

 

 

 

A: Do you need some help with your homework?

* homework [houˈmwərˌk] - 숙제

 

※ homework  (vs)  assignment

* homework [houˈmwərˌk] - 숙제 (집에서 하는 일)

* assignment [əsáinmənt] - 과제 (집이나 학교에서 하는 일 - 주로 대학에서 많이 사용)

 

▶ Do you need help with (명사)? = (명사)에 도움이 필요하니?

ex) Do you need help with that?  -  그거에 도움이 필요하니?

      Do you need help with the application?  -  그 신청서에 도움이 필요하니?

      Do you need help with the chair?  -  그 의자에 도움이 필요하니?

 

* application  [ ˌæplɪˈkeɪʃn ]  - 신청서

 

B: Yes, Mom. I’m stuck on this math problem.

* math [mæθ] - 수학

  = mathematics [mӕθəmǽtiks]

 

* stuck [stʌk] - 오도 가도 못하는 (형용사)  - 'stick'의 'p.p형태'

※ stick  ≫  stuck  ≫  stuck

 

▶ be stuck + on (질문) = (질문)에서 오도 가도 못하고 멈춰 있다

ex) I am stuck on #7.  -  나 7번에 멈춰있어

      Are you still stuck on the question?  -  너 아직 그 질문에 멈춰있니?

 

A: Um… Did you just say “math?”

* just [dʒʌst] - 방금

 

▶ Did you (동사원형)? = 너 (동사원형)했니?

ex) Did you just say "love"?  -  너 방금 "사랑"이라고 했니?

      Did you see that?  -  너 저거 봤어?

      Did she just say "pizza"?  -  그녀가 방금 "피자"라고 말했나?

 

B: Mom? Where are you going? Come back!

* come back - 돌아오다

 

※ come back  =  get back

      -  'get'은 움직임을 나타 냄

 

▶ Where (질문 어순)? = 어디에, 어디로, 어디에서 (질문 어순)이니?

ex) Where do you live?  -  너 어디 사니?

      Where are you going to go?  -  너 어디 갈 거야?
